As a multi-instrumentalist, unique percussionist, author, composer and singer Bomboro Kosso who comes from Burkina Faso, has developped a very individual African reggae style - a refreshing blend of African rhythms and Jamaican ska.
Descended from a Griotfamilie his musical career was thereby determined mainly by the tradition in Burkina Faso. In his songs, he tells about the life in his home country and also how he sees life in Europe. He sings in Djoula or Bambara, which is also spoken in Mali and Senegal - as well as in French. With simple words and stories he appeals to the wisdom of the people.
The result for the listener - a very individual African reggae that is played very personally through his melodious voice and African sonorities. Even in the successful album "Afrikhya" of the Dub Inc, he was able to enrich the song "Farafina" with it.
His latest album "Gorrée, Mon Amour" shows the unique and diverse style of this talented artist. No wonder he was awarded as winner of the 2009 Afro Pepite competition "Le Reve Africain" as the finest talent of the competition.
>> But the highlight shows then when he takes his djembe and drums, powerful and fast or sweet and anxious .... perfect master <<
from "Catherine, REGGAELUTION.NET"
>> He has developed a reggae, African and resolutely positive.
Bomboro Kosso is true that certain issues, seeing as its obligation. He denounces the injustice and the bad things that are destroying Africa. Even if one is tempted to make comparisons with Tiken Jah Fakoly, Alpha Blondy, or Seyni and Yeliba, we note with pleasure that Bomboro Kosso has his own personality, his own energy and offers something different. A deliberately more danceable character in a lighter form. The combination of African rhythms and roots and Jamaican Ska - the result is compelling and the production very carefully. Bomboro Kosso has participated in many tours that allowed him to share the stage together with artists like Gentleman, Marcia Griffiths, Lady G or Clinton Fearon. <<
